Basic Description.
The Hubble Telescope is a large telescope currently orbiting within earths atmosphere. It is the worlds first optical space observatory telescope. Because it orbits above earths atmosphere it can observe space which much more clarity then a similar telescope on the earths surface. This is due to the turbulent atmosphere of the earth. Which bends and distorts light entering and exciting the atmosphere. This effect is known as Atmospheric Refraction. In basic terms the telescope works by reflecting light of several mirrors into different scientific instruments. The telescope was named after Edwin Hubble a astronomer famous for his discovery of the expansion of the universe.
